Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how the AnyReader mobile application ("the App", "AnyReader", "we", "us") handles your information. Our policy is simple: your documents are processed entirely on your device, never uploaded to our servers, and IndicStudio itself collects no personal data.
The App is ad-supported: advertising is provided by Google AdMob, and the AdMob SDK processes some device data to serve those ads, as described in Section 2.
1. Information We Collect
IndicStudio collects no personal information through the App. AnyReader:
- Has no user accounts, sign-in, or registration.
- Contains no analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting SDKs operated by us.
- Never transmits, copies, or reads your documents or their contents off your device.
2. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC. To serve, personalize, and measure advertisements, the AdMob SDK may collect and process data such as:
- Device identifiers, including the Android Advertising ID;
- IP address and approximate (IP-derived) location;
- Device, network, and app diagnostic information;
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks) and event logs.
This data processing is performed directly by Google under its own privacy disclosures:
You can reset or delete your Advertising ID and disable ads personalization at any time in Android Settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
Consent Management: In the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and other regions where legally required, the App displays a consent dialog (Google User Messaging Platform) before ads are requested and honors your selections.
3. How Your Files Are Handled
- Files are opened only when you explicitly select them using the Android system file picker (Storage Access Framework) or share them to the App from another application.
- All viewing, editing, and creation of documents is performed entirely locally on your device. File contents are never uploaded or shared with advertising networks.
- The App does not request broad storage permissions; access is strictly limited to the individual files you choose to open.
4. Data Stored on Your Device
The App keeps a small amount of metadata privately in your device's local sandbox storage:
- Recent Files List: The names and URI pathways of files you have opened so they can be reopened quickly. You can remove individual entries or clear the whole list at any time inside the app (Settings → Storage & Data).
- Settings: Your theme settings and rendering preferences.
- Cache: Temporary working copies needed to preview certain formats (for example, databases and PDFs being edited). You can clear this cache at any time (Settings → Storage & Data).
This data never leaves your device and is automatically deleted when you uninstall the App.
5. Permissions
AnyReader requests no runtime permissions. Network access (INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) is used exclusively by the Google AdMob SDK to load advertisements — never to transmit your documents or personal files.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children; advertising is served by Google AdMob under Google's child-directed treatment policies where applicable.
7. Security
Because your documents never leave your device through the App, they are exactly as secure as your physical device. Edited PDFs are always written as new copies; the App never modifies your original file in place during editing to prevent accidental corruption.
8. Changes to This Policy
If a future version of the App changes how data is handled (for example, by adding an online feature), this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the in-app copy and hosted copy will both reflect the changes with a new effective date.
